Gloria Dei Lutheran Church is a mission minded congregation. We support local, regional, and international efforts to reach out to those in need. These are some of the opportunities we work with each year.
Faith In Action Volunteers of Monroe County - is a nonprofit agency dedicated to working with older adults and the disabled throughout Monroe County. Volunteers provide services such as transportation, grocery shopping and delivery, errands, telephone reassurance and medical escorts. For more information on our services or to become a volunteer, please call 608-372-0939. Click here to join them on Facebook >
Community Prayer Group - meets at 6:00 p.m. the second Monday of the month at a different location each month. They bring the concerns of our community and our world to the Lord in prayer. Please call the church office to find out where they will meet next.
The Tomah Haiti Mission Team - has traveled to Haiti for several years providing medical and dental clinics and providing the necessities for many Haitian couples to be married. Our Mission Team works through Harvest International. The Haiti Mission Team has several brat sales, a huge rummage sale, and a variety of other fundraisers throughout the year. If you have a passion for international mission work, this is a great opportunity to SERVE!
Hunger Haven - is our food stand on the grounds of the Grand National Tractor Pull and the Monroe County Fair every summer. This is a great opportunity for members to CONNECT with the community and raise funds for special projects and mission work.
Parades – Gloria Dei participates in the 4th of July, and Holiday Parades. Decorating the float and walking in the parade is all part of the fun!
Neighbor to Neighbor Food Pantry - is our local food pantry. Gloria Dei supports their efforts with special food drives, collecting donations on a regular basis, and volunteers who work at the Food Pantry.
Jellystone Campground - is the backdrop for our informal worship service led by members of our congregation at 9:00 a.m. Sunday mornings during the summer.
Liberty Village - Members of Gloria Dei provide a weekly worship service for residents of this assisted living facility. It’s an opportunity to worship with Christians who aren’t able to get to their own congregation.
Community Table - is a community effort to provide a healthy meal once a week for those who need the nourishment and fellowship. The Masonic Temple provides the facility and various community organizations provide the meal and the manpower on Mondays from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Lutheran World Relief - is an international organization that Gloria Dei supports with collections of health kits and school kits for those in need overseas. Our Quilting Group also ships more than 100 quilts overseas annually! Visit their site to learn more >
Salvation Army Bell Ringing – this community-wide project is completed with several of the local Tomah churches working together to ring bells for the Salvation Army at both Walmart and Gordy's. Bells are rung througout the Holiday Season.
Families First - is a local non-profit organization that supports emergency needs of members in community. Gloria Dei supports this worthwhile organization with special offerings.
