Church Ministries

Quilting  - Several ladies meet weekly during the school year to tie over 200 quilts that are donated to local families or shipped overseas through Lutheran World Relief.  This group meets Tuesday mornings in the Heritage Room and would love to welcome anyone who can tie a knot!

Prayer Shawls  -  These special gifts are given to members or friends of Gloria Dei who are in need of prayers and support during difficult times of their lives.  Baptismal blankets are given to all the babies who are baptized.   These prayer shawls and baptismal blankets are knit and crocheted by our members either on their own time or when they meet as a group.  If you don’t know how to knit or crochet but would like to, they will be happy to teach you.

Care Ministry  - The purpose of this ministry is to serve our homebound members by visiting and bringing communion to them on a regular basis.  This is a great opportunity to be Jesus’ hands and feet to our members who are unable to be at our worship services, but are still very much a part of the Gloria Dei family.

Prayer Group/Chain  - Prayer Group meets weekly on Thursday mornings in the sanctuary to pray for our congregation, our leaders, our community, and our world.  It’s a great opportunity to grow your faith and bless others!

Music  - Praising God with our voices is an important part of worship.  The Praise Team leads the congregation in song at the Worship and Praise service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday mornings.  The choir performs a Cantata at Easter time and sings throughout the year.  They are always looking for more voices!

Technology  - Video taping, Sound board and more  - If technology is fun for you, we can use your help videotaping worship services, weddings, and special events.  Bring your expertise!

Worship Leaders  - These willing individuals are often called upon to assist with services at Jellystone Campground during the summer, read scripture lessons during worship services, lead worship services at Liberty Village, an assisted living facility.

Serving Groups  - All women members of the congregation are encouraged to participate on a serving group.  Serving groups are an integral part of the congregation, assisting with potlucks, serving lunch after a funeral, or for special events our congregation hosts.

Coffee Hour  - This fellowhip time is a popular time between worship services Sunday mornings!  The coffee is on and the doughnuts have been picked up from the bakery, thanks to our Coffee Hour volunteers.

Scandinavian Bake SaleThis large bake sale takes place bi-annually and is coordinated by the Women of Gloria Dei. Volunteers are needed to peel potatoes for lefse, mix and bake many delicious treats as well as helpers to work on sale day!

Vacation Bible School HelpersVBS is another community event that is put on together with the United Methodist Church, St Mary’s Episcopal Church and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.  Together our three churches bring Jesus to our children through fun games, theatre, music, snacks, and Bible studies. Volunteers are needed to help organize, decorate, and conduct the week long program.

Soup Suppers  - These meals are offered during Lent.  Groups can volunteer to coordinate the soup suppers as a fundraiser for their group or as a mission event.

If you would like more information on any of these activities, please talk to Jackie Kiel, our Congregration Support Director, or call the church office.
