All that we have and all that we are from birth until death is from God. Let us use these gifts wisely and honorably in service to Him.
ANNUAL STEWARDSHIP REPORT -- 2005 “Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” Martin Luther King, Jr. And we did take that first step with this year’s stewardship event culminating with Consecration Sunday October 9th. 105 families pledged over $4,200.00 weekly in support of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and its ministries by returning to God a portion of what he has first provided. More than twice that number enjoyed a brunch and fellowship following morning “spiritual giving” messages from Mark Quade, stewardship specialist serving ELCA congregations and synods, and whose father shepherded Gloria Dei from 1957 to 1968. His Bible based remarks were inspiring. Mark enjoyed returning “home” to Tomah and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Spending time with new and “old” friends warmed the heart. Also heart warming was our congregation’s response to the question, “What percentage of your income is God calling you to give?” Jesus expressed the spiritual connection between money and God in this way, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Luke 12:34. We can attach ourselves emotionally to our money or to the God who gives us our money; we cannot attach ourselves to both. We enter this life with nothing. We exit this life with nothing. All that we are and all that we accumulate during a lifetime is from God. We are born stewards. Let us steer clear of selfishness by keeping ourselves spiritually focused on God.
